Creating a Site in Kelma Dashboard

📖 2 min read🗂️ Getting Started🔄 Updated June 11, 2026

Creating a WordPress site on Kelma takes about a minute. This guide walks through launching a new site from the dashboard, choosing between a live and a staging site, and what gets configured automatically so your site is fast and secure from the very first request.

Create the site

  1. Open Sites in the main menu and click New Site.
  2. Choose the site type — Live (your own domain) or Staging (a test site on a .kelma.io subdomain).
  3. Enter your domain — for example yoursite.com. Do not worry if it is not pointed at Kelma yet; you can connect it later.
  4. If your account has more than one server, choose which one should host the site.
  5. Click Create. Kelma provisions the site, installs the latest WordPress, and switches on caching, SSL, and the firewall automatically.
Tip: Building or redesigning a site? Start on the temporary .kelma.io address so you can install your theme and content right away, then attach the real domain when you are ready to go live.

What gets set up for you

Every new site arrives fully configured. You do not need to touch PHP versions, cache plugins, or server settings:

  • Server-level caching — full-page cache at the edge plus Redis object caching.
  • Free SSL — an HTTPS certificate is requested as soon as your domain resolves to Kelma.
  • Daily backups — automatic, off-server, with one-click restore.
  • A web application firewall — blocking malicious traffic before it reaches WordPress.
  • A system user and database — created for the site so it is isolated from your other sites.

Open your new site

From the WordPress tab, click Secure Admin Login to open wp-admin instantly — no password required. To go live, open the Domains tab, add your domain, and add the DNS records Kelma shows you at your registrar. You can also connect your files over SFTP or create a database at any time.
